Brooklea Beauties has been breeding since 2007, and working closely with the canine population since 2002. We take great pride in our breeding practices and these reviews demonstrate that pride.
We offer something unique, We professionally breed and select our puppies for our families based on the family's needs; every time we personally and professionally select puppies for our families we have successfully selected the best puppy for the circumstances.
Stacy is a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant who is qualified in temperament testing and canine behavior to select puppies for families with special needs; a far better choice can be made by a professional through temperament testing and daily observation of behavior than a one time visit to a litter.
Families will be matched with an available puppy based on the following criteria: Take home timeframe (as close as we can get to when you are ready for take home), most hypoallergenic, coat color and style, generation and size, temperament.
*Stud dog for all F1 Medium litters will be Mance; Mance has amazing health as well as personality. All bitches and studs are genetically cleared prior to breeding.**Breeding is based on demand as we accept reservations prior to the breeding of the pairs to ensure each and every puppy will be matched with the perfect family.
We offer something very unique here, our Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles are all selectively bred for service dogs and therapy dogs. We register through the CKC and the AKC, our dogs have extensive pedigrees and lineage that has shown to be excellent at tasks to help people with special needs.
We have many dogs from our litters that work hand in hand with their owners in hospitals, hospice centers and schools. Many of our dogs have been homed with facilities needing a service dog for their patients and residents. A good portion of our doodles and goldens are in homes with families with special needs to help a family member out on a daily basis for basic functioning or emotional support.
We are located in our home in the Southern Ter of New York State; our dogs live in our home, on our farm (Brooklea Farm), you are welcome to pick your puppy up from us or visit your puppy (if in training) after initial vaccinations (i.e.. 8-9 weeks old). Prior to that we encourage you to take a look at our reviews, Facebook page (brookleabeauties) and Instagram (brookleabeauties). We are Fully Licensed and Inspected by the State of NY and are in the process of USDA licensing as well, we have been in business as a part of an LLC since 2009.
Just as an FYI You should never visit breeders, stores with pets, dog parks, etc. when getting a puppy or with your new puppy. There are too many chances for communicable diseases as Immunity to parvo is not full until pups have received all vaccines which is 16 weeks so if a breeder allows visitation we would recommend not getting a puppy from them as the one you get could have contracted something from anyone that "visited". So be cautious!
As far as temperament, Stacy is a certified canine behavior consultant and a trainer for decades, we would never breed any dogs Stacy did not feel were of sound mind or health.
**The wait lists are merely a guide. Families will be matched with an available puppy based on the following criteria: Take home season (as close as desired as possible), most hypoallergenic, coat color and style, generation and size, temperament.** *Stud dog for all F1 Medium litters will Mance; amazing health as well as personality. All bitches and studs are genetically cleared prior to breeding.**Breeding is based on demand as we accept reservations prior to the breeding of the pairs to ensure each and every puppy will be matched with the perfect family. The above sizes are a guide, Goldendoodles are a hybrid and within any litter, there may be puppies that fall above or below the projected adult weights, however the majority of the time they are the projected size.
The Golden Retriever was developed in Britain in the 1800's specifically for retrieving game; the first person to have actually been credited with the coining of the breed was Sir Dudley Majoribanks (later referred to as Lord Tweedmouth), he began with Nous who was a yellow flat coated retriever in 1866 (Cairns 1999). In 1868 Nous was bred to Belle who was a Tweed Water Spaniel which was a favored retrieving dog at the time; Nous resembles the Golden Retrievers of today (Cairns 1999). The breeding of Nous and Belle produced 4 yellow colored pups named Ada, Crocus, Cowslip and Primrose; Cowslip was bred to Tweed (a Tweed Water Spaniel) and then bred to Sampson (a Red Setter) (Cairns 1999). In 1884 Jack (male from Samson and Cowslip) was bred to Zoe (Flat coated black Retriever whose sire was a flat coated Retriever and dam was Topsy daughter of Tweed and Cowslip) (Cairns 1999). The last breeding that Lord Tweedmouth entered was that of Nous (II) and Queenie, Queenie was a daughter to a black flat coated retriever and Gill who was from the same litter as Nous (II); two yellow colored pups were whelped from this pairing named Prim and Rose (Cairns 1999). Goldendoodle:
F1 means First Generation which is a direct cross between the Golden Retriever and Poodle. In our case for most of these pairings we use a Moyen Poodle giving us a medium sized puppy. Our F1 Mediums are typically 22-33" at the withers; our medium F1's are typically between 45 and 75 lbs full grown.
